Astrology

The minute a person hears the word Astrology, they automatically think about their horoscope. However, this is actually just a small aspect of astrology and is mostly based on Chinese belief. The truth is that it covers a wider range of topics and that various cultures have their own take on the subject.

First off, what exactly is astrology? To put it simply, it is a set belief that astronomy has strong ties to the fate of humans. The idea is that there is a Celestial Clock and each movement in the heaves will affect the Moments in Time, thereby directly affecting the life of individuals based on their time of birth. Contrary to popular belief however, the concept doesn’t just concern that stars or constellations. It also involves the sun, various planets and how they are positioned against each other.

The most common exposure of people in astrology is through horoscopes which provide suggestions or guides about a person’s daily life. However, those aren’t the only life decisions that seem to concern astrology. Following are other life aspects that people use this concept for.

Making Future Decisions

Predictions based on astrology vary on a day-to-day basis, monthly basis or even a yearly basis. This type of predictions usually covers various aspects of a person’s life including money matters, relationships and their career. Some predictions are vague although there are those can be specific depending on the interpretation of the situation.

Choosing a Job

In recent years, there has been a furor about employers choosing employees based on their astrological signs. However, astrology really does provide insights about whether a person will fit a job or not. Although some people are highly doubtful about this aspect, the fact is that some people still base their decisions on this school of thought.

Planning Children

The core of every astrology prediction is the person’s birth date. It is regarded that some people born on a specific month or a specific year are luckier than others. This is the same reason why many believers of the concept take the time to plan their children according to these astrological signs. For example, many Chinese believe that the Year of the Dragon (1988 and 2000) are lucky and therefore make sure that their children are born within that year.

Of course, those aren’t the only life aspects where astrology usually has a say. Basically, these predictions or situations change as time lapses and oftentimes, individuals will take these ideas highly into consideration.

Arguments against Astrology

As mentioned, there are as many proponents of astrology in the same way that there are many detractors. Currently though, astrology has become so deeply ingrained in a person’s life that not encountering them or attaching a grain of truth in them would be impossible. In most cases, people choose to believe predictions that they want and ignore the rest. The bottom line is that even if someone highly doubts the idea of astrology, it is a force that describes a culture if not a specific individual.
